Toni Wolf awarded 'Hero in the Fight' award
The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Massachusetts (NAMI-Mass), along with Massachusetts Association for Mental Health (MAMH), Massachusetts Association of Behavioral Health Systems, Samaritans of Boston, Parent Professional Advocacy League (PAL), Mental Health & Substance Abuse Corporations of Massachusetts (MHSAC), Families for Depression Awareness, Cole Resource Center, National Association of Social Workers, Massachusetts Chapter (NASW-MA), Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition, hosted Heroes in the Fightsm, a program to honor those in Massachusetts who exemplify the dedicated care and support that is provided by so many mental health professionals and advocates in Massachusetts each and every day in the fight against severe and persistent mental illness. An Awards Breakfast was held at The Westin Copley Place at 8:00 a.m. on November 8, 2006.
Toni Wolf, Executive Director of Employment Options, was recognized with a congratulory letter and a special Heroes in the Fightsm medallion. Although mental illnesses cannot be cured, “victories” occur whenever mental health care professionals, advocates, families, and individuals with mental illness choose to fight for better outcomes and better lives, and work with caregivers to achieve those goals. Too often the efforts of individuals in the mental health field are invisible to or even stigmatized by the general public. NAMI-Mass, along with other local mental health advocates, hopes to change that by hosting Heroes in the Fightsm. Heroes in the Fightsm honored those who have devoted their lives to working along side patients and families in their fight for better outcomes and to achieve victories, large and small.
