'Voices of Hope,' a memoir to those fighting mental illness
Marlborough - Employment Options Inc. will be offering its first
publication "Voices of Hope" at the May 15 Marlborough
Regional Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event hosted by
the Commerce Bank, 322 Maple St., Route 85. The networking event,
open to chamber members and guests, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30
pm.
Employment Options, Inc., a psychosocial clubhouse located at 200
East Main St., has seen beyond the mental illness and the stigma,
and supported individuals through their journey of fighting mental
illness. After 10 years of service and encouragement, Employment
Options staff and clients found the need for a permanent memory
of their experiences, and Voices of Hope was created.
Voices of Hope is a tale of inspiration, courage and strength -
a celebration of the human spirit. Told through personal stories
and thoughts, the book recounts the lives of 23 ordinary people
of extraordinary spirit living with mental illness and their determination
to actively participate in life despite the barriers created by
mental illness and its stigma.
"The main role of the staff at Options - to provide hope,"
said Toni Wolf, EMployment Options Inc. executive director. "And,
whatever you can do to give people that sense of hope - is a necessary
and important ingredient of the club."
