Marlboro project set to begin
MARLBORO — Groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of
a six-unit apartment complex for residents of low-to-moderate income
will be held tomorrow.
The project is being developed by Employment Options, Inc., a
non-profit agency that serves adults with mental illness and other
challenged populations in the Metro West area. Funding is being
provided by the state Housing and Urban Development and the Federal
Loan Bank.
Groundbreaking will be at 11 am. at 153 Mechanic Street, where
the $1 million project will be developed. The vacant lot is owned
by Options Properties, a subsidiary of Employment Options.
The 5,781 square foot independent living facility will house 10
residents. The building will contain four two-bedroom apartments
and two one-bedroom apartments. A first floor two-bedroom apartment
will be handicapped accessible. Apartments will be made available
for rent at 30 percent of a member’s individual income. The
apartments are expected to be available summer 2004.
