Employment Options receives Peer Provider Award
On November 6th, Marlborough agency, Employment Options was awarded the ‘Peer Provider Award’ from the Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers (MCHSP) at the Council’s 31st Annual Convention and Expo, held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. The award was presented on behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth in appreciation of the agency’s accomplishments and leadership in providing quality human services.
MassAHEC Network, UMass Medical School nominated Employment Options as a peer agency for this prestigious award, for going the extra mile to service its consumers. UMass Medical School partners with Employment Options to offer an innovative program called ‘Family Options’ that focuses on building resources and supports for families living with parental mental illness. Family Options was introduced in fall 2005 to promote resilience and recovery in families, and services 19 families today.
“Family Options exemplifies Employment Options' commitment to tackling tough human service issues, especially "hidden" issues, as proven by this program. We nominated Employment Options so that they might be commended for this work.” said Kate Biebel, Research Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, UMass Medical School.
The Peer Provider Award is presented to a partner agency for the agencies accomplishments that might include initiating new service or models of service, legislative victories, consumer accomplishments, successes in the community or other exciting events within an agency. The award ceremony welcomed over 1000 people and was hosted by Mary Richardson, co-host of WCVB-TV’s “Chronicle”. After the ceremony, Michael Weekes, President/CEO of MCHSP said, "The Providers' Council is proud to create this opportunity where our members can recognize the excellence in program delivery by their peers, their fellow agencies. This award in its five year history has become highly regarded by our members, and I know they all join me in congratulating Employment Options for its service to the communities of Central Massachusetts."
